Journal Entry
Dropped anchor off LeHavre, 8:00am. Waited for the tide, till 2:00pm. In port 3:30pm. Wonderful old seacoast town, situated partly on a hill. As we marched through the city, children begged for pennies and chocolate on every hand. French populace greeted us enthusiastically. Fine town!

My father, Irvin Gocken also served in the 122nd Field Artillery and I was so happy to find this wonderful article about his service.
Thanks so much.
